When i tell people that Avatar: The Last Airbender is in my top 3 tv shows of all time they just don’t get it. They’re all like

    image

    and i’m all like

    image

TOP. THREE. Of alllllll time. Out of every single tv show i’ve watched i rate it as the third best. There’s only 2 other tv shows i rater higher (Buffy, Red Dwarf).

A “kids” show has absolutely no right to be that good. I’ve said that before many times but i’m not wrong.

The world building is A+. The characters. The story.

    JUST WATCH IT YA HEATHENS!

    ANYWAYS!

    NUMBER FIVE!

    SOKKA

    image

Has no powers but can still hold his own. He starts out as a bit of a clownshoe but matures. Kind of. And he’s smarter than he lets on. He’s like the batman of their gang tbh. Kind of.

    NUMBER FOUR!

    KATARA

    image

She has to mature fast due to things and stuff. She’s the driving force of team Avatar.

    NUMBER THREE!

    ZUKO

    image

Greatest redemption arc in any tv show or film ever. The only thing that could have topped this is if they made another season or two and Azula got her redemption arc (it was planned).

    NUMBER TWO!

    TOPH

    image

She might be blind but it doesn’t stop her being the greatest earthbender of all time. She’s also very sarcastic. And a total badass. TBH it was close between her and Zuko. They can have joint second place.

    NUMBER ONE!

    image

    UNCLE IROH!

    image

Not only is he the best Avatar character but he’s also one of the best fictional characters of all time.

Fucking some dude tries to mug him and he’s all ‘you cannot mug people with that stance’ and he disarms him and then shows him a better stance and THEN sits the guy down and gives him some tea and sorts his life out for him.

BUT there was more to him than wise words and tea. Dude was also known as The Dragon of the West. Absolute badass motherfucker.

And the episode that gif is from. I can guarantee you’ll cry when you watch it.

tl’dr: watch Avatar: The Last Airbender or i’ll come to your house and punch you in the lungs.

Shout out to Azula (great bad guy). She would have been 6th.

i don’t think anyone but Iroh would be number one tbh

That “Good Hunting” episode of Love, Death + Robots is so unbelievably dope.

I want a feature length film set in that world.

The werewolf soldier episode was amazing too.

Both “Zima Blue” and the ocean in the desert episode are so fucking beautiful.

There are a few skippable episodes but, honestly, this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. No episode outstays its welcome. Even the bad ones are short enough to not get annoyed with.

If you want something new and refreshing, add this to your queue. I’m near the end and I’m gutted.

Fantastic stuff. Secret War is probably my least favorite, and the one I didn’t watch on my second run through. I find it really interesting that not everyone’s episode list is in the same order.

Medical droid designs by Ralph McQuarrie for The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

All the different image sizes make this post look a bit unwieldy; I tried to arrange them in the best possible way. I’ve posted image 4 before by the way, but it belongs here too.

If I’m understanding this correctly, one of the early designs for 2-1B was later used for Jabba’s torture droid, EV-9D9.

Give me all the McQuarrie art!
